Application of Toolkit 14.
Renewal of Roof Space

Kiu Wing Building, Hongkong

Hong Kong is a city with less land and more people. Almost 70% of the land in Hong Kong is prohibited from development. Therefore, the roof becomes a very important public communication space.

For the people living here, when the objective conditions do not allow them to go out, for example, during the pandemic of COVID-19, they can only stay in this building. View more about this case study.

If we make full use of the function of the roof, then the problem of people's activities can be well solved.  With this research, we propose two schemes, one conservative and the other extensive.

For the conservative one, we can make sure the additional part will not exceed the building cover limit. If so, the government would pass easily. For the extensive one, we can Let the extra part push the limits. The government will still pass it if you provide other documents like Structural load reports, floor age reports, area height limit demonstrations, and more.
